Hi everyone
First post here, have had a good search through the forums and internet and I can't find much on this issue, what I can find seems to conflict, so I was hoping to get some concrete info.
I've been running Windows 7 though bootcamp on my 13" 2010 MBP for a couple of months with no problems so far. Relevant to this issue, I noticed the stock 250GB drive always made a very definite click every time I picked up my laptop, parking the heads to avoid any drive damage.
Having gotten a little tired of having to fit around a 200GB Windows partition, I bought a Seagate Momentus 750GB 7200RPM ST9750420AS today and put that in. Just reinstalled everything and I've noticed the drive is no longer clicking when I move the lappy.
Now I'm aware there could be several things going on:
1. The new drive is still parking it's heads, but for some reason I can't hear it anymore (Is there some software I can get to monitor this?)
2. The Apple Sudden Motion Sensor (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1934) may not have the correct firmware to interact with my new drive or vice versa.
3. The drive may have it's own motion sensor and there may be some kind of conflict with the Apple one in my MBP.
Any info on this would be much appreciated, I'm a little concerned that I'm going to wreck the drive if it's not parking up properly.
Cheers
Finn

VZW purchased a very fast nationwide 700mhz Block C LTE 4G network from FCC auction in 2008.
Of note, Verizon is not allowed to:
Block, degrade, or interfere with the ability of end users to download and utilize applications of their choosing on the licensees Block C network, subject to reasonable network management. Wireless service providers subject to this requirement will not be allowed to disable features or functionality in handsets where such action is not related to reasonable network management and protection, or compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. For example, providers may not lock handsets to prevent their transfer from one system to another.
Block Wi-Fi access, MP3 playback ringtone capability, or other services that compete with wireless service providers own offerings.
Exclude applications or devices solely on the basis that such applications or devices would unreasonably increase bandwidth demands.
Impose any additional discriminatory charges (one-time or recurring) or conditions on customers who seek to use devices or applications outside of those provided by the licensee.
Deny access to a customers device solely because that device makes use of other wireless spectrum bands, such as cellular or PCS spectrum.

His asking price is too high. As others have pointed out, you can get a much better one completely new for not much more than he wants for his used one. In fact, if you wait for a refurbished one direct from Apple, you can get really close to his price and still get a much better current model.

Some sort of moisture may have seeped in through the back glass through humid temperatures/condensation/etc.
As long as the moisture sensors haven't been tripped (look at the indicator in the dock connector - if the indicator is white, you may be fine, if it's orange - water may have gotten into the unit) Apple will give you limited support for the issue.
They may replace the back glass of give you a refurbished unit in exchange for that phone.

first thing is first, phpMyAdmin works, and i can add db's and users.... so it would seem that mysql is running.
but when sending mysqli(localhost, user, pw) i get:
Connection error (2002) No such file or directory
i added "mysql.default_socket = /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/var/mysql/mysql.sock" to /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/etc/php.ini
first and restarted apache and mysql. still a no go.
so to check that it is actually mysql running the phpMyAdmin page, and not say sqlite fooling me, i ran:
# ./mysqladmin version
./mysqladmin Ver 8.42 Distrib 5.1.44, for apple-darwin8.11.1 on i386

not sure here, but mysqladmin wasn't a command available - i had to navigate to /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin to run it like a script.
so any suggestions?
edit: found that i can connect and use db thru MySQL Workbench. but still not mysqli. ..

I just was introduced to Tiddler Wiki and am completely taken by how cool this thing is!
I, like many others, am starting to use the advice in GTD by David Allen to organize life.
I checked many other programs (Curio, StickyBrain, CP Notebook, OmniOutliner 3) and have come to the conclusion that Tiddler Wiki is the best fit for me. Although, I must admit that OO3 really has my attention as well.
Anyway, I would love to hear other people's experience with TiddlerWiki, especially if you are a GTD convert like myself. I browsed a few different styles online, but was wondering if anyone knows a good resource to view many style and layouts for it, as the standard version is incredibly ugly.
Regarding OO3, if anyone is using this and can point me in the direction of some tutorials or reviews of how it has helped them, please respond.
Thanks!

Another question . People said once I use the turbo SIM I can not turn the cell phone off anymore. Why that?
That's with the first generation Gevey Turbo Sims. If you buy a Gevey Pro you don't need to do that.
But the good thing with the Rebel Micro Sim, you don't have to cut your sim card to fit the custom tray.

Probably like $150 if you can get it to turn on. I bought one for $50 the other day with a cracked screen. And no, you cannot get a 3Gs for $50 flat. It is a 2-year contract. A SIM-free (factory unlocked) 8GB iPhone 3Gs still costs $580.
However, I would watch when you post things like this on here, I've gotten reprimanded a few times by "moderators" for "price checking outside marketplace".

So my Classic has gone from it's old 20ish hour battery life to a measly 2-2 1/2 hours if I'm lucky.
My question is has anyone bought a good battery for the first gen 80GB Classic and if so does it outperform the old stock one?
Thanks!
iFixit.com ... try them...

The x-rite colormunki photo allows you to calibrate your monitors, projectors, and printers. It is a bit pricey, however you can receive a $50 rebate and a color checker free from x-rite now.
I have seen the colormunki photo priced at $499, but B & H and Amazon have it for $449.
I supplied the links below.

Try just rebooting in tetherd mode. Once you have the tethered reboot complete, you should be able to open cydia and install the untether patch for 4.2.7. Remember, once you download the patch, you may have to go into manage packages and turn it on. It should have a green check next to it prior to rebooting untethered.

You'd need a TV tuner for the Mac that does the recording.
If you get one from Elgato, it should come with the awesome EyeTV software that can convert the recordings and put them into iTunes when done.
Once in iTunes, as long as that minis iTunes is setup for sharing, any other Mac or AppleTV should be able to stream it wirelessly.
If you're planning on recording digital cable or satellite channels, that gets trickier because you need a set-top box. If you're just recording over-the-air or analog (standard def, non-digital) cable channels, that's a lot easier IMO.
Have you thought about using a regular mini w/ an external drive instead of the mini server? And would AppleTVs in the remote rooms work instead of minis? Their UI is easier to use with a remote, IMO.

Is it a political ploy - Yes
Is it necessary - No
How does one respond to this poll? Both answers are correct and/or wrong.
(edit) A closer reading seems to be that the question is only about necessity.

Going through this tonight actually. I am changing out the HDD in my PS3.
I had to partition off a section of my External HDD and format it to FAT. As soon as I plugged it into the PS3 it recognized it and let me start the backup process. Took it about an hour and a half to backup.
Swapped HDD and am now in the process of putting my backup onto the new HDD. It is a MUCH slower process, it cooked through the first 55% in about 45 minutes but it's taken over an hour to go from 55% to 64%. I assume it has hit the game installs and it's just a lot of info to process and write...

You can get at least a little more screen space by hiding the dock. If you right-click the dashed line to the right of the trash and select Dock Preferences, then check Automatically hide and show the Dock, the dock will drop off the screen when not in use. Then you can increase your browser to fill that extra space.
