If you can take a close up pic of the logic board near the SCSI IC and (more importantly) the circuit board of the hard drive, I may be able to provide some guidance.
SCSI termination is an odd thing and unless you're dealing with an original drive that hasn't been in an external case or had it's termination altered, there are some pitfalls.
The model of the drive would also be handy.
You may have a faulty drive or even a stiction fault (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiction#Hard_disk_drives).

It seems like your web browser can't submit the forms those sites use, but just to be sure you could do these two experiments:
1. If you submit a comment using someone else's computer, does it show up?
2. If you submit a comment on your G5 and it doesn't show up for you, does it show up when you look at the site from someone else's computer?

That's strange, the console version should be a bit faster then the gui version. Especially on older/slower machines. All of the cpu power goes to crunching the WU, there isn't a bit that helps the graphics card making the picture, so the console version should be faster.

False alarm. It goes away after a few minutes :o So I guess it's not exactly burned-in after all. Just lingers around for a bit like a bad fart.
Wonder what's causing it? Slow refresh or something? It's consistent and replicable too.
If I'm typing a message for a minute and then switch over to the snapshot/eBay page with the gray background, I still see the keyboard outline and anything else that was white.

It supposedly has crashed. On a good note, it got me out of a really boring videoconference meeting today.

Great thread and your words ring true.
The only issue I've had is with SBSettings on 4.3.2 I noticed you downloaded and are using it without issue.
My only jailbroken Cydia apps I have are, Winterboard (for "Theme It") and MyWi. When I attempted to add SBSettings my iPhone 4 went into safe mode after a few minutes. That made me nervous so I deleted the app.
Is SBSettings 4.3.2 ready completely?

thanks for your update! I orderd about 30 min after the update. So I would guess you will be before me!
I will post when My status chages to shipped. Just like you I cant wait!!!
I just picked up my 27" / 3.1 system. They had the i7 3.4 in stock, as well. If that was your only BTO it may be worth your time to just go pick one up locally.

I haven't noticed the issues with my iPad2 or my iPhone4 but there IS a lag on my husbands 3GS ever since he upgraded to the 4.3.1. We've tried restoring and it didn't solve it. He's sticking it out for a couple months and then upgrading.
Which is exactly what apple wants you to do. :)

Hi All,
This may upset some people but, frankly, I found the locator database of the iPhone quite amusing and useful.
I truly think that all the wopla, including a class action in USA, for this locator database is just overkill.
After all the database is on my iPhone and my iMac, both protected under my responsibility.
So I really liked the idea of having the possibility of looking back on my travels etc.
Now Apple will remove al of this.
My question now is, Is there an APP that does the same thing ?
As I said, this may upset some people.

Hi all
If you've removed the ItunesHelper from the Login Items section (System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items ... , How can you put it back?
I know where it is by browsing to it in Finder Applications >>>Itunes >Show Package Contents >> Resources . ITunesHelper ... but you can't drag and drop, and you can only select the application itself from the login window.

Hi
When I place a Photoshop EPS which is about 8MB into my document, the document becomes extremely slow to refresh (not a problem I have experienced before with a relatively small file). The only way I can work on this document is to put it on "typical display". I have checked whether the file has become embedded but this is not the case.
Also when I package the document, this comes up: "traversing spreads for embedded images" (also I have not had this message before).
Many thanks in advance.

I don't have an iPad 2 yet, as I live in the UK. Just curious as to your reason for selling.
I'm tring to sell it because I bought 2 iPad 2's hoping to make a $100...

I know that the AppleCare Protection Plan is widely regarded as a must buy in the Mac user community and I'd like to not discuss the merits of that in this thread, but I'm curious to hear of those brave souls who didn't purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan for their Mac and then had a need for it.
I don't have any experience with this situation myself even though I've been using Macs since '93. Of the 3 Macs I've owned only my current one needed a repair outside the standard 1-year warranty, it needed the logic board replaced during it's 3rd year and was covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan that I purchased. So, if you'd be so kind:
What did you need repaired?
When did you need it repaired?
Where did you have it repaired?
How much was the repair?
What Mac needed to be repaired?
Thank You.

Just wanted to ask while i wait for my new 27 imac, if someone has noticed there hdd rumbling, or if its gone.
I remember the 27 1tb had the most problems so would love to hear from the new owners
That depends on which HD you get, some are louder than others.
Played Black Ops today for a while and the system never even ramped the fans, hit 70C max on the CPU.

It sounds like it might even be the DC-in board. If you're handy, you could even replace it yourself, depending on your model of MacBook it's around $30 here (http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-MagSafe-DC-In-Board/IF186-019).

I doubt there would be a huge difference, but if you are looking for numbers, the high end 15" MBP has the 6750M in it and there are lots of benchmark numbers for it floating around the 'net. That should give you at least a baseline of what to expect from the 6750m and if that is "good enough" for you, then I would roll with that.
Just my .02 worth.
P.S. Yes I realize that they utilize different processors, and other factors can cause the benchmark numbers to vary, but it is a good baseline for what to expect in the iMac.

Why use vintage Mac computers?
I guess that should be a FAQ. :D There's been plenty of discussion in various threads about it:

I like mine because they're all curious period pieces. They are a snapshot in time of the state of the art of user experience. (And, you can't read an 800k diskette without one.)
