great news. I'd love to use iwork instead of office which is slow and crashy, but pages just doesn't cut it for me right now. What I'd really love is for pages to have a "notebook" kind of view like word does because that's much more convenient for taking notes in class.
Er, see that TextEdit icon in your dockbar - try that.

Correct. Xcode is the Mac OSX development platorm, so naturally it only runs on Macs.
Ok, well, that's cool. I found a very quick and simple way to enable multi-touch gestures on a pc, without Xcode or jailbreak:

Can they really make big profit out of this? Amazon I mean, seeing how at least 50 would go to the music companies... it would take thousands of downloads to make a marginal profit. Is something wrong here?

I understand from the news coverage that they attacked her after she used the woman's restroom.
Her transgender nature, and their reaction to that was absolutely central to this crime. If that isn't a hate crime, I don't know what is.
I wouldn't want that person in the same bathroom with my daughter.

Going to New York in December so I'm getting one cheap. I just hope it's update by then and not Jan. I'd be so P*ssed! lol

Dammit. I misread this article title as "Page 3 features" as in the Page 3 of Macrumors we had for April Fools.
You're not alone...you're the third one in this thread to mention it.

No- you hit a nerve when you tried to claim speculation as fact.
Nope. This was your first reply to me before I even mentioned "fact" :
You people really have problems. I feel sorry for you. That you would sit here and say things like this is just sad. Just what exactly is wrong with you? What is it that makes you so callous? Is it boredom? Or is it just fun for you the be this way?
Yep, I truly hit a nerve. Your abrupt rant wasn't necessary, and why you only quoted me on it when others said the same thing is mystifying. Don't let your emotions get in the way of things.

A good UI doesn't mean it has to look like a physical product, it merely has to be functional. The aesthetics of the new iCal are surprisingly bad. Here's hoping we'll be able to change it.
The rest of the UI elements look pretty nice -- the controls, etc. The graphics, not so much.

oh, I forgot to mention one good thing about this mouse. Presumably it will work correctly with the option "allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer." 3rd party mice wake the computer up over and over ever since 10.4.6 when that option is checked. Of course, it would be nicer if apple would just fix their stupid OS version so that all BT mice worked correctly and not just their own...

I went to South Coast and MV, both said try back in the morning, but no guarantees. Still deciding if I want to try again in the morning and where. South Coast was a fiasco with the mall cop.

Brea had a good number of Verizon models and a few WiFi, but no AT&T. GSM models are obviously being saved for the international launch.
How many wifi models did they have? Particularly 32GB. My friend got out of line, wondering if he would have gotten one.

wimax is not 4G. it even shows up with the wifi icon when it's connected. LTE is a real ITU standard that will eventually pave the way for real 4G
Really? When my EVO connects to WiMAX the 3G turns into a 4G.

Bah, these things are rubbish. The scroll wheel clogs up with dirt, just as scroll ball mice did in days gone by - except there is no user access to clean it thoroughly. Apple need to re-think the design on this one before updating it.
And what makes you think that a fix for that is not part of this update?
If they come out with a Bluetooth mouse, I am all over it. My wrists get very tired using my Macbook's trackpad all day.

It's actually a very Apple thing to do. Apple has always been about making a totally integrated, complete end-to-end computing environment and Apple has also always been dedicated to transforming things that had been difficult for non-techies to do into some so simple and effective that even advanced technical users decide it's the best method. This is probably not the first time an option to buy hardware has been built into software, but just like Time Machine is revolutionary because it's the first SIMPLE file-by-file backup system and not because it's the first backup system ever, so too this "Buy Battery" button is revolutionary because of how simple and integrated it is.
I'm hardly an Apple apologist, I complain quite loudly when they do things that are lame. But I think this is a very Apple thing to do and a feature that isn't just a built in advertisement. If I had an OS X button to buy a new battery when I wanted one, rather than tracking down the battery model number I needed and having to worry about who to buy from and bothering with technical details, I'd definitely appreciate being able to just click that button.
Making the entire computer experience simple, easy and fun is what Apple has always been about, and this is a natural continuation of those ideals. In fact, I hope they expand this functionality to include upgrading ram and hard disks (as long as they don't go overboard with the prices like in the b.t.o. options at the apple store).
Really this is a wonderful new breakthrough in Apple's quest for computing easiness.
I almost agree with you. I think it is helpful for Apple to provide an easy link for users who have a bad battery and need to buy another "replacement" battery; however, when Apple is trying to sell you a "spare" battery, something you really don't need, they seem like the salesmen knocking on your door trying to sell you a $1400 vacuum.

Due to late intro of the mac Pro. I would bet that desktops will increase in sales for Q1
I would agree with you. One issue is that the older G5 are still very good machines. There is little incentive to upgrage given that there are still a number of applications that are not Intel native yet. The Mac Pro should see a bigger jump when Photoshop and Leopard are out in Spring.
I think Leopard alone will blow everyone away given the powerfull 64 bit processing. We will continue to see strong demand for Mac desktops at that point.
