Its clear Apple is missing something in the midrange desk top line. Its time for the Cube or Macintosh or headless iMac or Max Mini or something. iMac isnt for everyone and the world has billions of big beautiful displays just waiting for a midrange Mac but if Apple prices it again the same as the towers it will be another failure. Its way past time for the next Macintosh. Needs a real GPU, at least 1 expansion slot and should be priced right along with ugly iMac:D or a pinch below.
I couldn't agree more. A Conroe machine would fit this bill nicely. I don't have $2500 to spend on a CPU, but want a more powerful desktop. Not that a Mac is a mere PC, but the VAST majority of Windoze PCs are under $600. Why not put out a $700-1000 Mac? Increase the market share even more. Of course then Wal-Mart would want them, a sure sign of the end...

That's horrible. There are so many actors that would love to be in this man's shoes. Not to mention that tons of crew members who are now without work due to his actions. SMH!

Right, and Cocoa isn't the slightest bit bloated? (can you say runtime messaging and binding overhead?)
I'm not saying that the actual virtualization should be done in Cocoa (ha yeah right), but the GUI definitely should. Parallels takes way too long to launch, and the GUI sucks.
Plus, do you really think a Qt C++ wrapper around Carbon is faster than direct Cocoa calls?
I just want a nice documented-based Cocoa app that behaves like a Mac app, with a fast virtualization at its core :)

If I ruled the world the person / people doing the beating would get a mandatory minimum 5 years in jail. The prison population would go up short term but the message would get across eventually. No getting out early for good behaviour either.

And that is reason enough that Samsung should be allowed to rip off Apple products? - I don't think so.
It's not like Apple never ripped off anyone else. iPhone ring a bell :
http://newsroom.cisco.com/dlls/2007/corp_011007.html
Let's not go claim that one side is totally white and the other totally black. These are huge corporations we're talking about. They do things for their own profits.
And anyway, as has been shown, aside from the Vibrant and international i9000 models (those pictures everyone going "Samsung are copycats!" are trumpeting around), the Galaxy S line is quite different from the iPhone and while the icon grid looks the same, one is inside the App Drawer and the other on the home screen. The TouchWiz homescreen doesn't have the icon grid.
This case isn't so clear cut. And now adding the Samsung counter-suit, it's even less. To claim one side is wrong and the other right at this point is quite disingenuous.
Again, let the courts decide. Siding with one corporation or another should not be something we bother with as consumers.

Basically any modern media device can play MP4 which is what Apple uses on it's store. For example I can put music purchased from iTunes on my Android phone with no coversion at all.Can you name a few more? I have only seen Sony support AAC on their PMP devices.
How I wish Xbox would support their format. I like streaming music but it sucks having to convert my favorite song. My NookColor, Palm Pre Plus and Nexus can all play these songs just fine.

I said that I would play but I don't think Intell wants me since he hasn't added me to the list :P .

In response to the ebay comment, why are they seemingly so dumb? I wanted to buy a new canon lens recently and i always buy my photography equipment from B&H (probably the most reputable place on the planet) but first i looked on ebay to see if i could get a used one for a lot less. None of the auctions went for significantly less than new at B&H (especially when you factor in shipping) and at least one auction ended of about $30 more than retail. I dont get it! Don't people do ANY research?

We moved up a rank today some how. As well the number of active users is increasing. I kind of think us talking about it here seems to be helping! I might just set my signature back to something about folding tomorrow at some point.

Is this for Intel Macs only or will it work on PPC too?
There is a PPC version but it will only run the PPC version of Windows.

1mm thicker, but the 30 or so people voting negatively are waaaaayyy thicker, and that rating system on the front page is colossally thick... and it's not enough that pretty much everyone hates that rating system, now we even have a rating system for posts... talk about anal retentiveness...:apple:

I don't play games, and even I don't want integrated graphics. You can say that an MBA isn't really purpose-built for games (obviously), but I don't know how some people can fervently defend a graphics downgrade.
I owned a rev B white MacBook, and it had some sort of crappy integrated graphics (the first type Apple used). It could easily play videos.......until HD movies and larger format videos became more common. After a year, it couldn't keep up with Youtube. I don't know what changed, but the fans ran like crazy, especially when watching movie trailers at any size above "SMALL". I realize that laptops are never going to be able to keep up with the future, but with the Intel IG being rumoured, you'd be at the cusp of being obsolete. It's already at the bottom-rung of the ladder, so there's no leeway when graphics demands move half a step forward.

802.11n isn't due for ratification until 2008. There is a "Draft N v 2.0" due out next year that is supposedly close to what 802.11n will be but there's no guarantee anything will work until the final spec is released in 2008.
Yep, but the new iMacs are shipping with 802.11n's installed. Plus I'd imagine that Apple has its own standards about being compatible with its own stuff (iTV, etc).

There should be notification of the time limit you have when using the iTunes store app without having to enter your password, but I'm very sure it's not long though... Maybe if he had just an iPod this wouldn't have happened. Too many overly techy kids these days anyway.....
Perhaps she should lock her phone and this wouldn't be an issue. Mine is set to 1 min I think.

Wake me when iMacs have matte screens again.
I have the last model of 24" iMac that had an anti-glare screen. I just had to make the first repair, replaced the hard drive.
My fear is that I will be forced to build a Hackintosh or get an iMac with one of these new cheaper screens.

As long as my daughter is in there, I will have a say who goes in the bathroom. What are you going to do, big boy? Stand outside with a shotgun? Feel up anyone who approaches? What threat do you imagine a transgender person offers to your daughter? The fruit of the tree of knowledge?
