From the local AT&T reps here in town they just do NOT give a crap. There network sucks, and the bigshots get there big fat checks and thats it.
They will NEVER catch up, heck they don't even have 3G in every place that they have there bars in the advertisements.
They have the iPhone deal/contract and do not give a dam, money rolls in and goes back out in dribs and drabs.
Come on Verizon and Apple.
I like another posters opinion, get a BB on Verizon and an iPod touch. Luckily my contract is over in December.

Without using iTunes & ATV, does anyone know of a product where you can wirelessly stream the media contents of any shared volume to the TV? I would imagine such a product would need a PC/Mac side client as well as a TV attached gizmo�like iTunes & ATV. I have both anyway, but I was wondering of different options.
Boxee or any HTPC can be configured to stream movies from a network share.
I am currently using a hacked AppleTV running XBMC to stream movies from a SMB network share on my iMac.

Apple still doesn't offer 3G connectivity in their MBP's . That's pretty pathetic. For all their claims of superiority, its actually just smoke and mirrors. PC laptops have had that for years while Apple remains in the dark ages.

I'm still not too sure how gestures would work to control such a device unless there was a camera. Have you see the "gestures" video? It would be done by physically touching the iPod. No camera needed.

APPLE doesn't have much in a choice about keeping patents secret. We (the over-curious consumers) are the ones making all the hype for them.

The only time they must become visible is when they are issued. In pending state, they very much *do* have a choice.

Sounds like a "who cares?" kind of thing, but that's actually kind of a big deal if it creates case fragmentation. Not good. Hopefully inaccurate.
I don't know what is more pathetic, the fact they reported on this or the fact that they would think it was the same thickness and a total lack of material science knowledge.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?
A faster HDD with a faster RPM will add to the speed. With USB 2.0 hard drives, USB 2.0 is the bottleneck. With USB 3.0 hard drives, it'll be the drives. For Thunderbolt, it will be the drives. Would be a while before we see any 10Gbps SSDs (hard drives will never be that fast), so USB 3.0 seems more practical for the time being.

Actually, I'd call this bad news. It pretty much confirms that iP5 isn't coming any time soon.

Microsoft has a Wireless Laser Mouse 6000-that works on PC's and is laser too-unlike Apple that won't support those trying to get the the wireless Mighty Mouse to work on a PC. And my fav-Logitech has the G7 that works quite fine on Macs.

As long as my daughter is in there, I will have a say who goes in the bathroom. my daughter isn't a woman yet, she is a girl, and I will do whatever it takes to protect her. Whatever dude. 2Ghz\2GB RAM\256MB Video\160GB HD and there is NOTHING instantaneous about Parallels at all. It takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes to resume a session and another 2+ minutes to suspend it. This is with multiple images, several OS X installs, and I know how to tweak Windows with the best of them.
Sounds like you're not talking about Parallels starting up, but a virtual machine either resuming or starting up from scratch. For me WinXP starts in about 15 seconds on a 2.16Ghz 2GB RAM or about 2 minutes if resuming. But that has NOTHING to do with Cocoa, QT, Carbon or what not. The difference between those frameworks in speed is in milliseconds and would have nothing to do with the above. Those would have everything to do with file writing to disk.
I can say that when Parallels has its VM Flags set to VM Cache as the primary caching logic, its disk speed is near native, but OS X apps slow down dramatically. Change that to Mac OS X primary caching logic and the VM's disk access slows down noticeably, but not horribly.

Oh great. I'm going to have to tie up my Internet connection for a long period of time to update my 4G iPod touch and iPad 2 for the 4.3.2 update. :rolleyes:
I REALLY hope that Apple does incremental updates of iOS starting with iOS 5.0 to save us from tying up the broadband connection for such a long period of time.

Hey u haven't seen the "200 new features". Just kidding. I'm with you. The only upgrade I paid for was from Jag to Panther, I wanted to use Expose. But I only got Tiger due to the fact that it came on new MBPs. This OS release hasn't shown anything that's really worth it. :rolleyes:
So far, Leopard is something I'm not willing to pay for.
I expected just a little bit of a UI change, it just looks like a little updated version of Tiger.
I really wonder what these top secret features are because the current features aren't impressing me enough to open my wallet.
