Strange reason why I rented it, but that's another conversation entirely.
Who cares why you rented it... it's a beautiful flick and that is all that matters.

I've had my macbook pro for a couple months now, 13" 2.66ghz 8gigs ram 500 gig HD, and a couple times a day the computer completely freezes. Doesn't do anything for about 30 seconds then resumes back to normal.
I've tried restarting the ram holding option command P+L, still does nothing. What do I do about this, bring it to apple for replacement or what?

Hi All,
We had an office powercut a few days ago and since then two of our MacBook Airs are unable to connect to the Airport Extreme base station wirelessly.
The WiFi is definitely working as several other machines (a mixture of MacBook Pro and Windows 7 Dell's) are able to connect wirelessly to it.
The two Airs are able to see the network, but are unable to get an IP address. I've tried re-entering the password, checking the encryption type, renewing the DHCP leases, restarting the base station AND the Airs. Nothing seems to work though.
We're using a linux based DHCP server to dish out IP's, and I've tried deleting the leases for the respective MAC addresses and restarting DHCP, but they are still unable to pick up an IP address.
Any ideas what to try next?
Thanks! :)

A cheap workaround is to stick a straightened paper clip into the little hole on the corner of the CD tray. It sounds as if the ejecting mechanism itself may be toasted, perhaps something is off a rail that it needs.
If there's an Apple Store nearby, talk to a Genius. Other than that, your best bet is to ship it off.

Brilliant? It's definitely neat, but not brilliant (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/brilliant).
Can we agree on "shiny" then? But I agree, it's a nice gimmick, but at least they put something inside for the geeks from time to time.

Leaking capacitors are a big problem with any Mac of that vintage. Washing the hard drive doesn't make any sense - perhaps they meant the motherboard? It still sounds crazy, but people do it with varying levels of success.
Regardless there's no easy fix for this. If you're attached to this particular Mac there are methods, but simply getting another one is usually a less time consuming option.

A couple of weeks ago, I was doing my usual syncing on my jailbroken 4G iPod Touch and for some weird reason, the iPod Touch kept disconnecting and reconnecting to my laptop while syncing.
I thought nothing more of it until I tried out some Apps and I found that some of them wouldn't work any more in that they'd go straight back to the main screen after going into them.
I've tried deleting them and reinstalling them but that doesn't seem to work at all.
I don't want to have to resort to doing a full reset and reinstall of my Apps, so I was wondering if there was any way of telling if my iPod Touch is corrupted or not so if I do have to take it to my local Apple Store in Liverpool to have it fixed, I can set it up so that it doesn't look like it's been jailbroken before taking it there.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe the problem is it being jailbroken? Try unjailbreaking it and try the apps again. Assuming they aren't apps you get through the jailbreak.

In the sound preferences on audio in, does it have an audio gauge so you can check if it's reacting to input?
Here is my audio prefs with a Firewire interface, when I send it signal from my keyboard you can see it reacting, showing blue.

You can tell by the subject line that this is a very "classic" computer. :)
I recently inherited this machine from a co-worker who had it passed down to him, etc. As far as I can tell nobody has attempted to boot it. It is missing the keyboard and mouse but I thought that turning it on would at least give me some sort of error beeps, codes, unhappy face. However, when I flipped the switch all I can hear is the fans, and I believe I also hear the HD but beyond that nothing. No video is displayed (black) and I can't find any other indication of what's wrong.
I realize this is probably a lost cause but I thought I'd post here anyway in hopes that someone has an idea.
Thanks for your help.
I would open the computer up: check to see if it has RAM, Hard Drive, and of course you will need an old Mac OS we are talking pre OS 7 must be on floppy discs. To be honest unless you have an old Mac OS like version 2-4.0 I doubt you will be able to get it running at all.
Cheers

its not creaking yet but it creaks when i push the plastic myself, im wondering if everyones does that.Mine does the same thing. Think about this for a second, it's a plastic part on a metal frame. The plastic Apple used for this part is not soft plastic, it's a harder type, so it will creak when pushed against metal.

There is http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?artistId=217005 but it only has EPs.
Apart from that, I see your point, but then I don't know many kids who own credit cards.

I am new to IMAC and use IMOVIE 9 to make import videos off my SONY HDR-XR100 I import them into an event.
I delete the hard disk on my Handycam or I cannot tape anything else. Now I am afraid everything is on computer I have no tape since the camera is HD. How can I backup the video I previously taped and save as usable input in the future. Currently I am taking uo 336 GB of my hard drive in Imovie Events.
Thanks for advice and help on this

Hey so I bought my friends old I phone 3gs. It is a 16gb iphone 3gs on 4.3.2 firmware. The sleep button is broken so I had to use pliers to put it into dfu. The problem is that every single jailbreak I have tried has failed. No matter what I do. I used redsn0w, but when I tried installing the custom firmware I gpt "error 21." So I looked on some forums and got a little further but then got "error 1601." Tried to fix it but nothing worked. I tried blackra1n, but it got stuck on "running." I tried limera1n but it also got stuck on running. Even redsn0w got stuck. I don't know what is wrong. Someone please help! I am running on a pc netbook by the way, because my mac mini is getting repaired.

The people who are living in HongKong are very lucky to be able to use 3G technique. It is a very convenient technique. I don't know untill when I could use that modern technique. I like to use it to contact with my family and my friends when I am away from them

Reinstall the OS.
If you do an "Archive and Install" type of installation, it'll be very easy and will keep all the bookmarks, personal info, photos, music, documents, and everything else in your home folder intact.
Sweet, eh?

Squaretrade is more like insurance. The value of the policy is the amount of total repair costs you can incur. If you reach that limit you dont have any coverage.
With Apple you can have repairs dont under warranty for the entire period (no spending limit).
For something like the MBA with likely high repair costs...I am not convinced Squaretrade is the best way to go.
Thank you for that very informative post. No way will I be going with SquareTrade now.
You sir, just saved me $159 and possibly my MBA if it were to get into any trouble.

You will have plenty of room, I am not going to waste time waffling, but I think you have the right idea completely, just go for it as mentioned.
Partition the 2nd drive as suggested, use the 190GB for all your production.
I would then keep a time machine of this entire 250gb drive incase anything goes wrong.
