I really like using Increase because it gives me readily available information on what's going on without opening the terminal and having to remember any esoteric commands.

Hello, I was wondering if using an external Bluetooth gps antennae would work with ios4. Is there an API that would allow app devs to implement this? I know this works on a jailbroken iPod but I'm not sure if I want to do that.

H.264 video is not designed for editing. I'd use a different format if you want to edit it.

I think I know the problem you are referring to. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution.
In my situation, it's not particularly "wacky" fonts. For instance. If I am in the text palette and I type the name of the font "DIN" it skips DIN and DIN Schrift and goes straight to Dingbat. If I try to use the up arrow to navigate up my list to where DIN is, I get the "donk" sound.
If you ever find a reason or a fix, please do report back. I would appreciate it.

gnuguy, I had never seen the Carbon call for that, and had always worked my way thorough ioreg for it. Using Carbon is so much easier! And in case someone is looking for a script-ish way of doing it:
/usr/sbin/ioreg -c IOHIDSystem | /usr/bin/awk '/HIDIdleTime/ {print $NF/1000000000; exit}'
/usr/sbin/ioreg -c IOHIDSystem | /usr/bin/awk '/HIDIdleTime/ {print $NF/1000000000; exit}'

Hi all,
Is there a way to make the slideshow automatically open up and start playing when someone clicks on a page? We are a design studio that want to have about 6 prominent pages like "Brochures" and "Books" etc, and when clients click on those pages it takes them straight to a large black page where the slideshow automatically plays for them.
Any ideas? This functionality alone is so important it is probably the difference between us using iWeb and whether or not we have to make the break and try Wordpress. Cheers.

You can use a shellscript to make it easier:
mount -t smbfs //user@server/sharename share
this wil require you the make a folder named "share" in the user folder
This wil also work, put it in login items if you want to log into it when you log on
tell application "Finder"
open location "smb://user:password@computername/sharename"
end tell
mount -t smbfs //user@server/sharename share

Can I download them in the link he provided?? Or take them off the mini??
Either should work fine. I'd probably go with the mini ones though.

I had one, and absolutely hated it. It overheated often because of the lack of sufficient ventilation. Plus it's very slow if you do high-volume work. I was getting slower than single disk USB external speeds out of it. The redundancy is nice, but there are much better choices out there. I personally love my Synology 411j. I wrote a review on it HERE (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1117716&highlight=).
Edit: You might get more responses in the Mac Peripherals section. :)

2010 C2D MBP and you say it is slowing down for day to day tasks?
Hogwash. :D
And if the hard drive is going to fail aren't you under warranty still? They came out 4/10. Maybe you haven't missed the deadline yet.
Worst case it is a good time to put a SSD in that baby. :)
anyway not seeing the point of getting a MBA, iPad and iMac. And even stranger is making your mind up to get all this stuff, but somehow you don't know which iMac you want or whether a 27" model is "worth" it?
I don't think those 3 devices are "worth" it.

This may be obvious, but did you verify that there is power coming from the cord. That is, try plugging it into other idevices first. When the battery of my iPhone was completely dead, it did take more than a few minutes of charging before it came back to life. Having a large battery in the iPad, perhaps it needs more time?

Did you every run TinyUmbrella or similar tools on your Mac? Check your /etc/hosts file and make sure there's not an entry for an gs.apple.com. Or if there is an entry, that it starts with a #.
No, I even tried it on multiple computers. Just kind of pisses me off that their servers are down and I can't use my $8XX iPad that I have been waiting a month on.

First off there was some kind of odd dhcp issue with airport extreme prior firmware 7.5.2 wich could introduce this problem. update the firmware if it is @ the latest. Second wich solved a similar problem for me is go to your keychain "Applications/Utilities/Keychain access" find the Airport networkpassword (the accesspoint where you have trouble with, there could be a few of them) and delete them. Now you have to join the accesspoint once more with the correct ssid+password and things should work again.
hope this helps.

I'm using dropcam dot com. A new way of absolute digital security. By the time your connection is knocked out the perps are recorded off site.

Wow, this is really taking off!
There has to be more than just those songs for only one rec' though, right? Have you considered a separate page to list them all and just have 10 or so there in the sidebar?

I just installed a new 1tb hard drive in my macbook pro 2010 and some new RAM (8gb).
And I created a bootcamp partition and installed Windows 7 64Bit.
The problem is, it only had 2gbof RAM usable. Please help?

I had the same problem when I had my iPad 1.
I just dimmed the screen and left the screen on. You can change the settings to not have the screen auto-shut off.
That's the workaround I've been going with. Would still like to turn the screen off to save battery, but what can you do.

Since the 2nd computer is the admin, that user will be able to look at the logs on the TC. Pretty much every router keeps a log of the URLs accessed by each computer.
So the admin will pretty much be able to see which websites you've visited. Plus the logs are timestamped.

Awesome. So she will be able to see my posts in this forum then? Haha. Dang, oh well. Thank you to everyone for the info and help! Great forum here.
