The only issue I found with that is that if the servers are up, but not delivering data, it will pass. By the way, he can't load www.macrumors.com (forums works).
Fixed. I had edited the "forums." out of the link, but I guess I didn't save my changes. Thanks for catching that.

I think I know what you are talking about. If I close my PB and open in the next 5 seconds or so, it doesn't wake up. I have to press a key to get it to wake. I think it doesn't finish going to sleep or something. I've learned to just deal with it.
If you're trying to describe what grapes is describing, I also have always experienced this with my iBook. I always assumed it was there for the situation where the latch accidentally popped open when you put it in a case or something right after sleeping it. Since you wouldn't want it to suddenly be awake in the case while you're moving it around. (?) :o

Well, this may or may not be common knowledge amongst Mac users... I have been one since 1999 and had no idea until last week... using X11 downloadable from www.apple.com you can download Gimp (free graphics editor mainly used by linux nuts) and OpenOffice (same deal) and use them on your Macintosh.
Granted it takes a few more seconds to load up but I have found both to be quite stable, user friendly, and best of all FREE!

Any reason to run the Mini in 64 bit mode? I know it automatically boots in 32 bit mode and the holding the "6" and "4" keys at startup will boot it into 64 bit mode. But are there any advantages to it (will Handbrake run faster)?
I booted into 64 bit mode last night just for kicks and it took 2x as long to boot up and some quirky stuff happened once booted up.

Did anybody else notice this. I went to the Mac OS X part of version tracker and clicked on the Mac OS X Modem Update. It said in its list of computers that it was for teh Dual 1 GHz and the Dual 1.5 GHz mirrored doors. Just some typo, just thought of it being interesting.

Your credit card billing address doesn't matter if you are buying in store - you will not be charged sales tax if you buy in New Hampshire.
HOWEVER, if your state has a "use tax," you will be required to declare your purchase on your yearly income tax return and pay the use tax rate. But... States rarely enforce their use tax rules.

How do you make software for a store you haven't even tried? And you don't even know the difference between Mac and MAC?
I bet that your software will be unsuccessful.

Since I have an iPad 2, I just used my HDMI Digital AV Adapter on my iPhone 4 with DisplayOut. It works fine. You can find HDMI Cables for like $6 online. I recommend getting the Digital AV Adapter that Apple sells because it has a 30 pin port on the adapter so you can charge your iPhone while the adapter is plugged into your iPhone.

Evening all,
I was messing around with logic on my MBP today, and my son (6, nearly 7) was well into it, and soon took over playing around and adding in instruments/loops/effects and loving it.
In his room we have an old iMac G3, with a whopping 400MhZ processor and 512MB of RAM. Anyone got any recommendations for something similar that'll run on his machine? I know it's lacking the horsepower for a lot of the fancier effects, but once upon a time a 400Mhz G3 was cutting edge!
The iMac is running 10.4, and classic, but I have the OS9 CD if running that natively will open up more options. I think I read somewhere that it was possible to trick garageband 1 into running, but not that quickly. I could rig up an external firewire drive if that's likely to make things any more useable.
Cheers for any input.
Mike

I've tried several cheap SCSI->IDE plugged into IDE->CF solutions, and all seem to fail on older macs when I go to partition and format. I have yet to find classic Mac software that will successfully do that step. I can see the "drive," and some seek-ish stuff works, but partitioning it always seems to fail with one of those cryptic numerical error messages.
I've had good luck with IDE->CF solutions in later PowerMacs that have internal IDE busses; that seems to work just fine.

It's happened to me as well, for a couple times. Seems like either when the iPad goes to sleep, or the iPhone goes to sleep, the link needs to be re-established by turning off/on the personal hotspot feature.
Any idea how to avoid/fix it? Or is it another one of those "deal with it" type situations?

Thanks, I've just ordered it
Just gotta work out how to clone my old hard drive to it when it arrives so I don't have to faff around re-installing everything
I don't have a SATA caddy so wonder if I can clone my existing drive to an external then clone it back with the new, blank drive installed in the machine...is this do-able?

So THAT's what was causing all the rapid-fire "Opening..." messages in IE on my work computer! That was driving me crazy the last couple of days...
I'm glad to see that an amenable solution has been found. (I'm not a Facebook user, so I'm indifferent to the buttons myself.)

Plex basically is XBMC. It's a tweaked port.
Yeah, would be good to see 1080p supported in the iPad 3!

Hi all,
can someone please point me in the right direction before I end up with no hair!!!
I have:
1 spry region on the left of my page
1 detail region on the right of my page
1 form to add further items to the detail region.
When I click on a row in the spry region, the detail region is displayed.
When I insert a new item to the detail region, I have the dataset reload, and therefore takes me back to display the first record in the detail region.
I am trying to have things so that when I've clicked on a row, that I can insert multiple items, one after the other, without having to click on the row each time to get back into that information.
What I've done so far is:
on Spry Region set an onclick="storeLastRow();"
Then I have:
var lastClickedRow=0;
function storeLastRow(){
lastClickedRow=staff.getRowNumber(staff.getCurrentRow());
alert("number is: " + lastClickedRow);
}
function PPEinsert(){
